Website design discovery

The first step to designing a new website from scratch is to perform a discovery to determine how you would like to brand your site, determine the color theme, imagery and site needs. This is to be performed by whoever is designing your site. During the discovery phase, you may be asked, by your designer, to provide them with pictures and videos that will aid them in creating your designs.

We perform website design and also offer design through our partner SodaPop Media, LLC.

Element account creation:

While your site is being designed, we will go ahead and create your Element account.

Website is designed

Once the design discovery process is completed your site will be designed by your designated design firm. Designing your site and developing the template is two separate things. Designing your site consists of determining the color theme, developing the imagery and Flash movies, if desired. The designs are usually created in PhotoShop or Fireworks and is just a mock-up of the actual template that will be developed. The PhotoShop/Fireworks, Flash, etc. files will then need to be provided to us in order for us to build the template based on the designs.

The design and template development process can take as little as a week to a month or two depending on the complexity of your site and it's designs.

I need a domain name (Web Address) for my new site:

There are several registrars on the web that you can register your domain name with. Go Daddy & register.com are two very popular registrars you can choose from. You will be asked to enter a domain name that you would like to register. Once you find a domain name that is available, register it and you're ready to go. You can also sign up for email accounts that will allow you to have an email address that ends with your domain name (Example: you@yourdomain.com). Molecular Software does NOT offer email accounts. So, unless you're managing your own mail server, you will need to obtain your email accounts from the registrar.

Once you register a domain name, you will need to change your domain name's "A" record to point to Element's servers in order for the registrar to send traffic to your new site hosted on Element. If you need assistance with changing your "A" record, you can contact us at anytime.

Designer delivers designs and the template is built on Element

Once the designer has completed the designs they are delivered to us and we begin developing the template based on the designs. By this point you should have already signed up for an Element account and created your site using your registered domain name and chosen a free template.

Once we have your custom template developed, we will apply the custom template to your site on Element.

I'm ready for my site on Element to go "live"

  • If you currently have a website and are migrating to Element:
    • Once your new site's template has been developed and all your content has been added you will need to approve the site by informing us that the site is ready to go live. We will then run a process on the new site that will change all the linking to point to your actual domain name instead of the temporary migration domain that your new site is residing on. Once this process has been performed, your "A" record will then need to be pointed to Element's server IP address (We can help you with this step). Once the "A" record has been changed, all your current traffic will begin flowing to your new site hosted on Element.

  • If you do not currently have a website:
    • If you do not currently have a website that you are migrating from, then your new site is setup using your registered domain name and is live. No further action is required.

I need a Custom Component developed for me:

Are you in need of a custom web application tool developed for your website? A custom web application tool is software that is specifically written to perform a task on your website that Element does not already perform such as; a submission form that your sales force can fill out that not only notifies you when it is submitted but stores the submitted data on the server allowing you to view reports through an administration area you login to.

This is just one example of a Custom Component. Of course, there are many different web applications that can be built to meet your needs. If you are in need of a Custom Component, please fill out the Support Center form and we will contact you to obtain all the details required to provide you with a quote for the development charges.

I need Search Engine Optimization (SEO) work performed:

Element has been designed with SEO in mind. Element allows you to perform all the SEO techniques that need to be implemented into your site but there are other techniques that can be done outside of your site such as Pay Per Click (PPC), back linking and keyword audits. These techniques can boost your site in the rankings but require an SEO expert to be involved.

Molecular Software, LLC has experienced SEO members on staff that can provide assistance with all of your SEO needs. If you would like us to help you with your SEO campaign, please fill out the Support Center form and we will contact you to get the process started.
